Inspection to Japan

From November 28th to December 5th, three architects of our company took part in the “Sino-Japanese commercial construction planning and development peak forum,2007 and travel of Master Tadao Ando”. This activity was co-organized by Beijing Archi 100 and Shanghai CA-Group, which gained strong support from Chinese Architectural Academy, Chinese Real-estate Association, Chinese Reconnaissance and Design Association and Shanghai Architectural Academy. More than eighty people from different design companies all over the country under the lead of Pro. Chen Weibang, the vice-chairman of Chinese Urban Planning Institute and former chief planner of the Ministry of Construction made a travel around Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Yokohama and so on and also a study tour of Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Omotesando Hills, Midtown, Namba City and Namba Park in Osaka, Queen’s Square, Red Brick Warehouse and International Passenger Terminal of Yokohama and other excellent projects. Since nowadays there have been many problems existed in the rejuvenation of old cities and construction of new ones in China, especially in urban complexes and the planning and construction of commercial buildings, this trip means a lot for solving problems such as a lack of experience, the waste of resources, the lack of coordination,a low level of planning design and a low commercial operation capability.

This forum was opened with a lecture given by the great Japanese architects Tadao Ando. After visiting some excellent works of his, the participants talked with the master face by face and the atmosphere was extremely hot. Besides, some lectures about the definitions, merchants and operations of Namba park, Roppongi Hills and Queen’s Square designs was given by some famous presidents.
