The largest City Square will appear in the old city of Jiaxing

Yesterday afternoon, the civil affair department of Zhejing Province
and Jiaxing municipal government signed the agreement on the removing
of Rongjun Hospital. It marks the starting of the rebuilding of
the old city area of Jiaxing. We were informed that Rongjun Hospital
besides Ziyang Street would be removed to Nantu of Longfeng Bridge
in West Zhonghuan Road. The former place will be constructed into
sub-branch city Culture Park .The occupation of the park would be
320,000ŠO.
Rongjun Hospital was built in the 70's of last century. With the
development of social economy, the place where the hospital located
has been the central of Jaxing City. It is very prosperous around
Rongjun Hospital but not a suitable surrounding for hospitals. In
order to provide a better environment to the disabled revolutionary
servicemen who are accepting treatment in this hospital, the municipal
government and the civil affair department of Zhejing Province decided
to move it to a new place in the central area. The new hospital
will be constructed into a top leveled caring hospital. The area,
facilities and the other entire standard will be updated at that
time.
Xu Feng,the vice master planner from the panning(mapping) management
department of the Planning and Construction City of Jiaxing said
there were a lot of cultural and historical sites around the original
location of the hospital. They will be integrated into a whole one
to hand the local history and culture down so that to upgrade and
optimize the environment of the city.
The new sub-branch city Culture Park whose two main areas occupies
113,000 ŠO and 208,000 ŠO is start from Zhonghe Street, reaches the
south Huancheng Road, stretches from Jianguo Road in the East to
Ziyang Street at the westernmost tip, covering a area of 321,000
ŠO.
In order to form a city principle axis from south to north, Fuqian
Square will extend a little to its south on the basis of the original
square to make the occupation comply with the ancient field in the
history. The construction of the Shoes City will be considered together
with Pingshan Park, Zicheng Park (Rongjun Hospital). It will connect
the south and the north to form the most attractive street square
in the central area. Being an open green land, Pingshan Park will
open wider to Zhongshan Road and form the pattern of hills in the
east and belt walking square in the west in its space organization.
The finished sub-branch city Culture Park will play a more important
role in civilians' recreational life. Featured in historical sites
protection and traditional view, the sub-branch city park is aiming
to be an open up park. Pingshan Park will take the ancient garden
style, combine with the culture establishment like Jiaxing painting
and calligraphy Academy, to build it into a city culture park with
strong culture intention.
